Scrum this, Kanban that and remember to estimate in story points. These conversations happen in many companies where tools, frameworks, and fancy names are thrown with the speed of light. All in a desperate need to solve a problem quickly or reduce tension.

So what?

Throwing names and playing a police officer afterwards, making sure everyone abides by them, does not make it right. It may make you feel right because you made a change, but did you make an impact (on your team, product or organisation)?

Escaping the “instant solution mentality”:

🚘 Look under the hood — deal with the real problem, not the issue expressed by others. It does not mean ‘don’t trust’. It means looking further beyond the effects of the problem.

⏳ Increase the time between the problem and your response — this is especially important for people with vast experience. It’s tempting to answer right off the bat. Yet, often, transplants just don’t work as they come from a different culture and setting. Avoid “yeah, I tried this in another company, and it worked”.
